Zac Efron has been spending time reading The Lorax to schoolchildren in New York, according to a report from Associated Press (March 5, 2012). The former High School Musical star voices the character of 12 year-old Ted in the family-friendly animated movie and he was joined by co-star Danny Devito at New York's Public Library to read to around 300 children.
Zac and Danny had agreed to take part in the reading event to help promote the American Literacy Campaign. Zac said "As a kid, I remember thinking, 'What would it be like to go on this big adventure and learn what the Once-ler knows?' Now here I am, two decades later, voicing Ted in Dr Seuss' The Lorax. It's an honour to not only be a part of this movie, but to work with the National Education Association's Read Across America to inspire the love of reading in millions of kids." The reading took place on March 2, 2012, which also marked Dr Seuss' 108th birthday.
