Zara Phillips, the 29-year-old daughter of PRINCESS ANNE and her former husband MARK PHILLIPS, is set to marry her long-term partner Mike Tindall, reports BBC News. Buckingham Palace confirmed that the England rugby union international proposed to Phillips at their Gloucestershire home yesterday (20th December 2010).
Speculation is now hotting up as to whether the couple will marry next year, making it the second royal wedding of 2011. Prince William and his long-term girlfriend Kate Middleton recently announced plans to marry on 29th April 2011. Ms Phillips said that she was "shocked" but "very happy" with the engagement and the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh said they were "delighted" by the news. In a statement, Tindall said, "I am delighted that Zara has agreed to marry me. We are both very excited about the next stage of our lives together".
The couple first met during England's triumphant rugby World Cup in 2003, and Phillips achieved her own sporting success three years later where she won a gold medal at the World Equestrian Games in Germany. In 2007, she was named BBC 'Sports Personality of the Year'.
