Zooey Deschanel 's popularity has been on the ascendant for months now. She built up a steady following of fans from her string of indie film releases and bulked it out with dedicated musos, with her M Ward collaboration, She and Him. Then, her popularity went mainstream, with the new TV sitcom New Girl, which fast became a hit on both sides of the Atlantic. She's a popular young lass, revered for her comic talent, her musical ability and, of course, for her natural, cutesy good looks. When she rocked up at last night's Teen Choice awards, those natural good looks looked as though they'd been unnaturally tampered with.
Perhaps it was just the light, of the flash of the camera bulb. Or the angle. Or just something else? Perhaps we'll wake up in the morning and she'll have gone back to her naturally chiselled ways. Zooey was looking strangely done up last night but at least it was still a far cry from the terrible airbrush job that Rimmel London once did on her, rendering her utterly unrecognisable. Zooey posed for photos with Demi Lovato (published by Huffington Post), who was the host of last night's awards ceremony.
Performers at the awards included Carly Rae Jepsen, who performed her summer hit 'Call Me Maybe.' No Doubt also shared one of the first performances of new single 'Settle Down,' with Gwen Stefani looking as though she'd never even been away from the public arena.
