Zooey Deschanel hasn't had the most straightforward of years but there's a chance she could start her next on in one of the best ways possible after being nominated for a Golden Globe alongside the show that's helped get her there, 'New Girl'. Deschanel has been nominated in the category for Best Performance By An Actress In A Television Series with the show itself - which sees the 31 year-old play a girl who moves in with a bunch of guys after a split from her long term boyfriend - up for Best Television Series at the ceremony which will be held on January 15th next year.
Speaking to the LA Times, the actress enthused "The fact that people like it and it's getting these nominations, it's like . like, cake and ice cream," going on to add "I've been working a really long time as an actress - I know how special and rare it is to get recognized like this."
As mentioned, it's not been the easiest year for Deschanel this year; in September she and husband Ben Gibbard, front man of the band DEATH CAB FOR A CUTIE, announced their divorce after just over two years of marriage together. Ultimately it appears that the pair were both victims of their own success with Gibbard out on the road all the time, particularly after his group's seventh album 'Codes And Keys' peaked at number three on the US Billboard Charts this year. Deschanel meanwhile has been getting ever busier since the phenomenal success of 2009's hugely well received '(500) Days Of Summer' meaning the couple barely saw each other. Should she win on the 15th, that success is unlikely to show any sign of abating.
